Minutes : NACUSAsf Meeting: Feb.7, 2001 at Nancy's
Present: John Beeman, Nancy Bloomer Deussen, Joanne Carey, I'lana Cotton, Herb Gellis, Carolyn Hawley, Owen Lee
Shall NACUSAsf take over from NACUSA Los Angeles as the 'head' chapter? In conversations with Nancy Bloomer Deussen and I'lana Cotton, National President Marshall Bialoski and National Treasurer Don Thompson have suggested that the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter take over as the central chapter. It was decided to suggest to Marshall and Donald that search for new national president and national treasurer go nationwide. Our chapter is not willing undertake the entire nationwide organization.
Score Calls - sufficient notification. Courtesy of Chapter Secretary Mark Alburger, our chapter now has a newsletter, "Composer - San Francisco". The first issue went out in late December 2000. It was decided that issues of the newsletter should be timed to coincide with the score calls for our three concerts per season. The score call itself will take up an entire page so that members will really notice it. With the addition of e-mail notification for those who have e-mail (which is most members), this should be sufficient notification for all.
Searches. For a pianist, tenor, and cellist will begin.
Plans for the Fall 2001 Concert. Owen will contact Brian Holmes to find out the format of a possible Menlo Brass Quintet program for Fall 2001. Some members may want to compose music for a solo brass instrument and piano.
Plans for the Spring 2002 Concert. It was decided that the instrumentation will be Piano Trio (Violin, Cello, Piano) + flute + soprano.
Respectfully submitted,
Owen Lee, Chapter President.
